Organizers launch 2nd SM-to-SM Run

Hoping to attract more participants for its upcoming running event, SM Prime Holdings and the Run For Sight Foundation launched early its 2nd SM-to-SM Run yesterday at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

The second edition of the race will be held Feb. 12, 2012 and will have 3-kilometer, 6k, 12k and 21k categories.

Race director Joel Baring said the organizers decided to launch the event early to hopefully draw 5,000 runners.

In this year’s race held last Feb. 13, the run attracted almost 4,000 runners.

Registration will kick off on Dec. 15 at the SM City Cebu. The 21k fee is pegged at P700, while the 12k fee is pegged at P550. The 6k and 3k categories will have a P250 registration fee. The fees are inclusive of a race shirt and an eco-friendly bag filled with goodies from SM City Cebu.

“We are back and we want to highlight again SM Prime Holdings’ forthcoming development of the SM Seaside City at the South Road Properties, ” said SM Prime Holdings Vice President Marissa Fernan during the launching.

Since the running event falls on the month of Valentines, a couples category will again be offered. Also, Run For Sight Foundation president Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III announced they will give out unique heart-shaped medals to the 21k finishers.

Larrazabal III is confident that they can attract 5,000 runners. “Aside from our exciting prizes, we also have a very nice route in the SRP because it will be completely closed,” said Larrazabal III.

21k champions will get P30,000 while 12k top placers will take home P10,000 each. In the 6k category, the top finishers will get P5,000 each. Winners in the couples 12k and 21k categories will win an overnight stay at the Radisson Hotel.
