Minibus driver gunned down

Yesterday turned out to be the last trip of a minibus driver after he was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding men in barangay Poblacion 3, Carcar town, southern Cebu.

Loreto Arsula, 49, driver of Allowie bus with plate number GXC-197, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

No clear motive was established yet by police.

The bus was headed for Cebu City when the attack occurred at dawn.

Arsula stopped in sitio Awayan to pick up two passengers.

A red motorcycle stopped beside the driver’s side.

The motorcycle riders, who wore full-faced helmets, peppered Arsula with bullets then fled toward barangay Liboron, said PO1 Junjie Lastimoso of the Carcar police.

The passengers panicked after the bursts of gunfire, said police.

Arsula was brought to the Carcar District Hospital where attending physicians declared him dead.

Police recovered three empty shells and a deformed slug of a .45 pistol in the crime scene.
