Western Visayas police orders probe of Bacolod cop ambush
BACOLOD CITY—The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) has ordered a thorough investigation of the killing of a ranking police officer here who was ambushed while heading for work on Saturday morning.
Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, PRO-6 director, also expressed his sympathies to the family of SPO4 Oscar Exaltado, deputy station chief of Police Station 6 in Bacolod City.
Exaltado, 45, was riding a motorcycle on his way to work when one of the two gunmen repeatedly shot at him at a populated area of Barangay Singcang Airport, Bacolod City, just in front of an elementary school.
Another man, who served as a lookout of the assailants, took the service firearm of the policeman and used it to finish him off.
Chief Insp. Charles Gever, Police Station 8 commander said all angles were being looked into, including but not limited to drugs and personal matters.
Bulalacao said he had ordered a thorough investigation of this incident to ensure the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
“We assure the bereaved family and their relatives that we will ensure that justice will be served in the soonest time possible. We will provide additional details on this incident as soon as the on-going investigation is completed,” he said in a statement./lzb
