Man stabs wife to death, tries to kill self in Bohol

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol—A man tried to kill himself after stabbing his wife to death in Pilar town in Bohol province Thursday night.

Police identified the suspect as Edgar Sumatra, 36, a resident of Barangay Cansungay in Pilar town.

Mira, the couple’s daughter, told DYTR News that on Thursday night, Edgar wanted to have a massage from a manghihilot, traditional massage practitioner. However, his wife Mirasol 35, stopped him from leaving the house.

Edgar became violent for the past days, according to SPO1 Ananias Milar of Pilar Police Station.

Milar said Edgar became so angry that he rushed to the kitchen to get a knife and stabbed Mirasol in her chest that cause her instant death.

Edgar ran away and went to an acacia tree where he also stabbed himself.

Neighbors saw the suspect and immediately brought him to Cong. Simeon G. Toribio Memorial Hospital in Carmen town.

While at the hospital’s emergency room, Edgar forcedly touched his wound in the stomach that the intestines almost fell out.

Doctors decided to bring him to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital for further medication.

Mira said his father’s violent behavior started when he allegedly received an “oracion” (spell) from a friend but he was not able to fulfill the rituals.
