Armed robbers kill trader, companion in Bulacan

CITY OF MEYCAUAYAN — Two men were shot dead in Marilao town by suspected armed robbers at dawn on Wednesday.

Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna, Bulacan police director, said Andres Santos, 54, a businessman; and Rodelio Amponin, 53, both from this city, were shot dead around 2:30 a.m. while traversing the Mac-Arthur Highway in Barangay Banga, Marilao on board a white Toyota Altis.

The suspects reportedly approached the victims and fired before speeding off aboard motorcycles.

Police said the suspects stole the bag of Santos containing an undetermined amount of cash.

Investigators are now reviewing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in major roads in the city and other adjacent towns to identify the suspects. /ee
