National Board of Canvassers yet to receive COCs from BOL plebiscite — Jimenez
MANILA, Philippines — No certificates of canvass (COCs) from areas in Mindanao that participated in the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) plebiscite have been received by the National Board of Canvassers as of Wednesday morning, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced.
In a text message sent to reporters, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said the canvassing of votes for the BOL plebiscite was again suspended.
“Please be informed that the National Plebiscite Board of Canvassers have not yet received any COCs and thus will convene tomorrow at 2 p.m. instead of 1 p.m. today,” Jimenez said.
During the poll body’s Monday session, Comelec chair Sheriff Abas said that no COCs have been delivered in the commission from the areas in Mindanao that participated in the BOL plebiscite.
As such, the official start of canvassing at the Comelec’s headquarters in Manila was rescheduled to Tuesday past noon.
First to take part in the BOL plebiscite on Monday were some areas in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, and in the cities of Isabela and Cotabato. /muf
