COTABATO CITY – Two blasts rocked Cotabato City Sunday night, hours before the plebiscite for the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), police said.

Senior Supt. Michael Lebanan, acting police chief, said two explosions believed to be from grenades occurred inside the residential compound of Judge Angelito Rasalan, 53, Municipal Circuit Trial Court judge of Upi, Maguindanao.

“No one was hurt,” Libanan told a reporter at the site.

Libanan said that before the explosion, two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle threw something inside the compound of Rasalan’s home at about 9 p.m.

Rasalan is the brother of Aniceto Rasalan, executive secretary of Cotabato City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi, an anti-BOL advocate.

A minute after the twin explosions, four helicopters were seen hovering above the city.
