ILOILO CITY, Philippines—Human remains believed to be those a woman reported been missing eight months ago were found Thursday inside the septic tank of an abandoned house in Kalibo, Aklan, according to the National Bureau of Investigation

NBI case officer John Katipunan said tests would still be conducted to confirm if the cadaver was that of Elisa Malacas-Dy, the wife of a businessman, although her family was “almost sure” that the remains were hers.

Katipunan said the decomposed remains of a woman in her 40s was found in the septic tank of the house along Goding Ramos Street, which was adjacent to the missing woman’s house, around 9:45 a.m.

Elisa’s husband, Benny Dy, had reported to the police in April that his wife had gone missing.
