MANILA, Philippines—Former president Macapagal Arroyo will be transferred to the government-run hospital in Quezon City by land, a Philippine National Police (PNP) official said Thursday.
“Yes,” PNP spokesman Chief Superintend Agrimero Cruz Jr. said in a text message to INQUIRER.net when asked if Arroyo’s transfer from St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City Friday will be by land.
Cruz Jr., however, gave no other information on PNP’s security plan for the transfer, including the vehicle that will be used.
Arroyo was put under hospital arrest at the St. Luke’s Medical Center after being charged of electoral sabotage during the 2004 and 2007 national elections.
Judge Jesus Mupas of Branch 112 of the Pasay Regional Trial Court rescheduled Arroyo’s transfer to VMMC due to other renovation that needs to be done in Arroyo’s presidential suite at the VMMC as per the partial motion for reconsideration filed by the former president’s lawyers.
