2 suspected crime gang members slain in Batangas

SAN PEDRO CITY- Two suspected members of a criminal gang were killed following a police chase in Batangas City on Thursday.

A Calabarzon police report said the police conducted an entrapment operation against Irasty Carinan and Erwin Bulandan around 4 a.m. in Barangay (village) Sta. Clara, where both live.

Carinan, or alias “Recca,” was the alleged group leader of the gang, which is involved in crimes and the sale of unlicensed firearms.

A report said the police were about to arrest them when the suspects opened fire before fleeing aboard a motorcycle.

The police chased them until they were “cornered” in Sitio (sub-village) Puyo in the same village.

Both suspects were hit during the shootout and died on the way to the St. Camillus hospital in the city.

The police said they recovered an Ingram submachine gun and a .38 caliber gun from the suspects. Maricar Cinco/lzb
