P6.5 million worth of smuggled goods caught in Manila ports

MANILA, Philippines–The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized P6.5 million worth of smuggled goods in the port of Manila Thursday, a Radyo Inquirer 990 AM report said.

The report quoted customs commissioner Ruffy Biazon who said that the goods were in two separate containers and came from different places.

One container came from California, USA, had a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle worth P1.5 million and was consigned to Bluestar Worldwide.

Another container came from China and contained 100 pieces of DVDs worth P5 million which were consigned to Reachable Enterprises.

The goods were declared as personal effects or housewares and leatherwares but were caught through the use of the BOC’s X-ray scanner in the said port, the report said. Matikas Santos, INQUIRER.net
