Duterte names new Sandiganbayan associate justice, BI deputy commissioner

MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte has named  a new Sandiganbayan Associate Justice and a deputy commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration.

Duterte has appointed Makati City Regional Trial Court Judge Ronald Moreno as new Associate Justice of the Sandiganbayan, replacing  former Sandiganbayan magistrate and now Supreme Court Justice Alexander Gesmundo.


Moreno’s appointment paper was dated June 8, 2018 but the Palace released it only on Wednesday.

He finished his law degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 1995. He was also a former executive judge of the Makati Metropolitan Trial Court (MeTC).


Duterte also appointed lawyer Aldwin Alegre as BI deputy commissioner on January 15, 2109.

Alegre replaced  Aimee Torrefranca-Neri who resigned on April 2018.
