MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) inspected on Monday the printing of ballots to be used for the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) plebiscite set for Feb. 6.
The printing of the ballots are expected to be completed within the week, according to Vicky Dulcero, vice chairman of the Comelec printing committee.
“We’re almost done,” she told reporters. “In a day or two we’ll be able to deliver [them] to our packing and shipping committee for the delivery of ballots.”
According to Dulcero, 600 ballots are currently being printed at the National Printing Office in Quezon City.
Residents of Lanao del Norte, except those in Iligan City, and six towns in North Cotabato will take part of the said voting event.
Meanwhile, the ballots that will be used for the first BOL plebiscite set for Jan. 21 were already printed in December last year, Dulcero said.
Dulcero added that machines used for the BOL plebiscite would be the same printing machines to be used for the May 13 midterm elections.
In a press conference, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said the commission would print around 61 million ballots for the midterm polls.
