Phivolcs: Magnitude 4.1 quake jolts parts of Davao Oriental

MANILA, Philippines — A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck Davao Oriental Sunday morning, state seismologists said.

The earthquake’s epicenter was traced nine kilometers east of Baganga, Davao Oriental, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, Phivolcs added.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury from the tremor that struck at 8:33 a.m at a depth of 33 kilometers.

The Philippines lies in the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” an arc of faults around the Pacific Ocean where most of the world’s earthquakes occur.
