MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte got the highest approval and trust ratings among elected officials, the latest Pulse Asia survey released on Friday showed.
The survey, conducted from December 14 to 21, revealed that the President got an 81 percent approval rating in December, up by six percentage points from his September 2018 rating while his trust rating also increased by four percentage points from 72 percent in September 2018 to 76 percent in December of the same year.
Vice President Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo got a 62 percent approval rating and a 56 percent trust rating.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III meanwhile obtained a 76 percent approval rating and a 66 percent trust rating while House Speaker Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo, who got the lowest ratings, had 27 percent approval rating and a 21 percent trust rating.
Duterte and Sotto got majority approval and trust ratings across all geographic areas and socio-economic classes.
Robredo had majority approval and trust ratings in most of the geographic areas and socio-economic classes but got less than 50 percent approval and trust ratings in the National Capital Region and a trust rating of less than half of those in the class ABC.
For Arroyo, the only majority rating she obtained was her 52 percent distrust rating in Metro Manila. All her other ratings were below 50 percent.
Government institutions
In the same survey, the Senate got the highest approval rating at 69 percent and 65 percent among government institutions.
The House of Representative followed with a 66 percent approval rating and a 64 percent trust rating.
The Supreme Court had the lowest approval and trust rating at 64 percent and 62 percent, respectively. /muf
