MANILA, Philippines — At least 43 truckloads of garbage have been collected hours after this year’s Traslacion came to a close, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Thursday.
In a text message to reporters, MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago said that 43 truckloads of trash were collected by street sweepers from the MMDA and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as of 10 a.m.

According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), around 1.5 million devotees joined activities leading up to the Traslacion, or the commemoration of the transfer from of the life-size image of the Black Nazarene from the Quirino Grandstand to the Quiapo Church, since December 31 until January 8.
Another 2.5 million devotees joined the procession which took place from January 9 to 10, the NCRPO added. /je
