CEBU CITY — A suspected drug pusher, who yielded P10.2 million worth of shabu, was killed in an ambush at Barangay Bulasa, Argao town, 70 kilometers south of Cebu City at past 10 a.m. Thursday.
Chief Supt. Debold Sinas, director of the Central Visayas police office, said Tocelio Ababon was on board a police car when the incident happened.
The two policemen, who escorted the inmate from Cebu City to Argao, were unscathed because they were wearing bullet-proof vests.
Sinas said Ababon was supposed to be presented to the trial court in Argao when unidentified men on board three motorcycles fired shots at the police car.
“A criminal case was supposed to be filed in court against Ababon,” he said.
Operatives of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cebu provincial police arrested Ababon, an alleged aide of detained drug lord Franz Sabalones, on December 29, 2018, after being caught with illegal drugs worth P10.2 million
While an investigation has yet to be conducted, Sinas believed that the suspects targeted Ababon due to the latter’s drug links. /lzb
