MANILA, Philippines — Some 103 devotees have suffered minor injuries punctures, bruises and lacerations while seven suffered major injuries including difficulty of breathing, fractures, and burns as of 7 a.m. during the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene from the Qurino Grandstand to the Quiapo Church.
According to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), one injured devotee was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical assistance.
The “andas” or carriage of the Black Nazarene started its way back to the Quiapo Church at 5:08 a.m.
According to the PRC, more than 400 devotees of the Black Nazarene on Wednesday sought medical assistance during the first few hours of this year’s Traslacion.
The PRC have monitored the blood pressure of 314 devotees who have initially complained of dizziness.
Millions of barefoot devotees of the Black Nazarene are expected to join the Traslacion. /muf
