A 42-year-old substitute teacher in Florida, United States was apprehended by authorities for putting feces on the tables and grills of a local park to sabotage the party of a principal’s daughter.
Heather Carpenter was charged with third-degree felony criminal mischief, as reported by WWSB-TV yesterday, Jan. 7. The local school district, meanwhile, stated that the suspect will not be able to serve as either a substitute teacher or as a volunteer at Sarasota schools while the investigation is ongoing.
Police responded to a call on Dec. 1 about a woman wearing a face mask and rubber gloves putting feces on top of seven tables and two grills at Urfer Park.
Because the tables were porous, they had to be replaced, the report said. The grills were also changed due to food safety concerns. The damage the incident caused amounted to $2,310 (around P121,200).
The police immediately launched an investigation on the matter. They first spoke to the principal at Phillippi Shores Elementary who reserved the pavilion for her daughter’s birthday party.
The principal told the authorities she invited everyone in her daughter’s class to attend the celebration, the report stated. Included in the party was Carpenter’s child who was her daughter’s classmate.
She divulged that she had a disagreement with Carpenter. Apparently, the suspect did not feel the principal was properly addressing a complaint she filed.
Following the lead, the police went to Carpenter’s home, as per the report. She admitted to the crime, saying she did so because she was not happy with the way the principal was handling the complaint. Kate Matriano/NVG
