Unidentified man hit by car dies in Davao del Sur
PADADA, DAVAO DEL SUR — A still to be identified man, wearing a blue shirt, yellow shorts with flower design and a pair of Adidas slippers, died on Friday hours after he was hit by a white Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV while crossing the highway, police here reported.
SPO1 Amador Heramiz Jr., traffic investigator here, on Saturday, said the white Chevrolet from Davao City was heading towards General Santos City when it hit the pedestrian crossing the road around 9:30 p.m. Friday.
The victim, who suffered a severe head injury and fracture on his right leg, was rushed to the Davao del Sur provincial hospital Friday night but later expired. Police have taken custody of the driver and the damaged vehicle.
In Hagonoy town, four motorcycles crashed around 2 p.m. Friday. No one was hurt.
Senior Insp. Gil Arobo, chief of the Hagonoy police, it was not the four-lane or six-lane highway that had to be blamed for accidents along the road but the motorists themselves for how they handled the controls of their vehicle.
Arobo said he would ask the Department of Public Works and Highways to place warning signs in the accident-prone areas hoping this could reduce accidents along the road.
