Robbery suspect killed in Cavite drug bust

SAN PEDRO CITY – A man tagged in robberies and shooting incidents in Cavite province was killed in a police anti-drug operation in General Trias City past noon Friday.

The suspect was identified as Marlon Saquilayan, alias “Andak.” According to police, Saquilayan was involved in previous incidents of drug trade, robberies, and gun firing, specifically in General Trias City and Noveleta town.

City police chief Supt. Paul Bometivo said in a message police conducted a buy-bust operation against Saquilayan in Barangay (village) Pasong Camachile 2 around 12:30 p.m. Friday.

He said police were about to arrest him when Saquilayan allegedly pulled out a .38 caliber gun tucked in his waist and began to shoot.

Police retaliated and hit the suspect, who died on the way to the General Trias Medicare Hospital.

Aside from gun and suspected “shabu” (crystal meth), police said they recovered a hand grenade from the slain suspect. /kga
