Zamboanga authorities launch manhunt vs car thief who bolt jail

ZAMBOANGA CITY–Security forces here are on a manhunt operation against a convicted car thief who bolted jail Tuesday afternoon in Barangay San Ramon, about 25 kilomters away from the town center.

Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Licup, regional director of Police Regional Office 9, said Irebert Mayormita Baba, convicted of carnapping, bolted out of the San Ramon Penal Farm and Correction around 2 p.m.

“Baba is a felon detained under medium security category,” Licup said. “He was convicted of carnapping and he is from Misamis Occidental.”

Licup said  Correction Superintendent Edgardo Veneracion, officer in charge of San Ramon Penal Farm and Correction, alerted them about Baba’s escape, prompting the police in the region to issue state alert and help the Bureau of Correction in search and recovery. /jpv
