1 dead, 5 hurt in Pasig City fire on New Year’s Day

Two hurt in Valenzuela City factory fire
MANILA, Philippines — A 60-year old woman died and five others were hurt when a fire hit a residential and commercial building in Barangay Manggahan, Pasig City, on Tuesday, shortly after the celebration of the New Year.

The fire started at about 3:30 a.m., killing Josefina Arañadar. She was declared dead on arrival at the Holy Life Hospital due to suffocation.

Other victims were rushed to the Pasig City General Hospital and Mission Hospital.

Meanwhile, Fire Chief Supt. Aristotle Baniaga said the cost of damage rendered by the fire was estimated to reach P70,000.
