LOOK: Over P30,000 worth of illegal firecrackers confiscated in Divisoria

MANILA, Philippines — Over P30,000 worth of banned firecrackers and those being sold in stores without necessary permits were confiscated by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in Divisoria on Saturday.

NCRPO chief Director Guillermo Eleazar inspected the firecracker stores in the area, as the New Year celebration draws near.

The PNP’s list of illegal firecrackers include piccolo, watusi, giant whistle bomb, giant bawang, large judas belt, super lolo or thunder lolo, atomic bomb, atomic big triangulo, pillbox, boga, kwiton, Goodbye Earth, Goodbye Bading, Hello Columbia, Coke-in-Can, kabasi, og, and other unlabeled and imported firecrackers.

Those found violating Republic Act No. 7183 or the law regulating the manufacture, sale, distribution, or use of firecrackers face a fine from P20,000 to P30,000, or imprisonment of six months to one year, the PNP said in a Facebook post.

Firecracker sellers found violating the law may face cancellation of their license and business permits and have their stocks of firecrackers confiscated by the police. /ee
