Family dead in landslide triggered by ‘Usman’ in Albay

MANILA, Philippines — A landslide triggered by rain spawned by Tropical Depression “Usman” killed a couple and their son in Legazpi City in Albay province.

Initial information from the Bicol Region police identified the victims as Mauro and Mia Lorete and their three-year-old son as Marco Alegre.

Police said a landslide fell on the family’s house in Barangay Francisco as heavy rain poured.

Authorities responded and launched a rescue operation but found the victims already dead at about 4 a.m. on Saturday. /cbb
