MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will be giving commuters free rides on Sunday, Dec. 30, in observance of the 122nd death anniversary of national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
In a Twitter post on Saturday, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announced that commuters could avail of the free rides from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
“Handog ng LRTA sa paggunita ng ika-22 anibersaryo ng kabayanihan ni Dr. Jose Rizal (ay) Libreng Sakay sa LRT-2!,” the LRTA wrote in its post.

Malacañang has proclaimed Dec. 30 as a regular holiday in commemoration of Rizal’s life and works.
