Guevarra chides Trillanes for traveling abroad
Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV should request leave of court to travel abroad even if there is no outstanding hold departure order against him, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said.
Guevarra reminded Trillanes that it was standard legal practice for a person with a pending criminal case to inform the court whenever he intended to leave the country.
Trillanes left on Dec. 11 for a monthlong visit to the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom without informing the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150, which is hearing his rebellion case in connection with the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege. —Dona Z. Pazzibugan
