Shooting incidents mar Christmas celebrations around Metro Manila
MANILA, Philippines — Authorities recorded at least four shooting incidents around Metro Manila as people were celebrating Christmas on Tuesday.
The Southern Police District (SPD) recorded two cases of shooting in Parañaque City and another one in Pasay City.
Police said a certain John Paul Ferrer, 20, shot Raymark Saludares, 21, after both engaged in a fistfight along Tramo Street, Barangay 66 in Pasay. Investigation showed Ferrer and his two companions, aboard a black motorcycle, followed Saludares who was trying to flee from the scene.
Saludares sustained bullet wounds on his left arm and right buttocks. He was brought to Pasay City General Hospital for treatment. Police said he is now in stable condition.
According to witnesses, Ferrer fled to Arnaiz Avenue, towards Makati City, after the shooting incident.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Don Bosco, Parañaque, a certain Levie Magallanes, 27, filed a complaint against Victorio Antonio Savellano, 58, a former Coast Guard Petty Officer for illegal discharge of firearms, slight physical injuries, and alarm and scandal while they were inside a mall parking area.
Article continues after this advertisementAlso in Parañaque, a victim told police that an unidentified person fired a still unknown caliber of gun along Tulips Steeet, Barangay San Dionisio .
Article continues after this advertisementIn Caloocan City, a police officer assigned at the Navotas City Police Station was accused of firing at seven men who were involved in a riot in Barangay 26. According to previous reports, PO1 Danilo Tiempo injured the victims who were gambling on the street.
Tiempo eventually surrendered, but argued that he just tried to confront the victims, who allegedly mauled his father. /kga
