Village chief gunned down in Batangas

SAN PEDRO CITY — A village captain was shot and killed in his home in Taysan town in Batangas province on Saturday morning.

The victim was identified as Eduardo Panganiban, 59, and a resident of Barangay (village) Panghayaan where he was also the captain.

A report from the Batang police office said Panganiban was in his garage when three gunmen fired shots around 7 a.m.

The victim died while being taken to a hospital due to multiple bullet wounds.

The police have not yet determined any possible motive as investigation focuses on the search for the gunmen as of Saturday noon. Maricar Cinco/lb
