Man arrested in QC after trying to travel with his rifle

MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested after he tried to bring an airgun with him inside a bus terminal in Cubao, Quezon City on Friday afternoon.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said in a report that the rifle owned by Marcel Arguel, 33, a tricycle driver from Barangay Palatiw in Pasig City, was found by a security guard and a police officer as he was going through inspection at the Partas Bus Terminal along Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City.

According to QCPD, Arguel brought with him a TCA .22 caliber rifle with a rifle suppressor inside a brown camouflage rifle bag.

When asked for the papers required for the possession and transportation of the firearm, the suspect failed to present any, prompting authorities to arrest him.

Arguel was arrested and was brought to the Cubao Police Station for inquest proceedings.  He will be facing charges for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. /je
