MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) has suspended its work in all offices and classes up to High School in all public schools on January 2.

In a memorandum dated December 19, DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones said that the suspension of classes and office work was in accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 54 issued by the Office of the President last December 17.

“As such, work in all offices and units of the Department of Education throughout the country is suspended on the said date,” the memo stated.

“Similarly, all classes nationwide from kindergarten to Grade 12 in public schools are suspended on the said date, while suspension of classes in private schools is left to the discretion of their respective school administrations,” the memo added.

The Supreme Court (SC) also suspended work in all courts nationwide on December 26 and January 2. /je
