Two killed in shootout with police in Talisay, Cebu
CEBU CITY – Two persons were killed in a buy-bust operation in Talisay City at around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
The fatalities were identified as Rodel Nacario, of Toledo City, and Kevin Baguio, who was from Cebu City.
Supt. Marlu Conag, Talisay City Police Station chief, said they planned their operation after receiving reports that Nacario was one of the biggest drug peddlers in Barangay Bulacao.
Nacario, who allegedly operated an illegal drug business with Baguio, was also believed to have had connections with the late drug lord Steve Go.
Conag said Nacario was also a hitman tasked to kill a Talisay City policeman.
The police official said they conducted their buy-bust operation against Nacario and Baguio near the compound of a telecommunications company in Barangay Bulacao at dawn today.
But the two sensed that they were transacting with a policeman which led to a shootout.
Police recovered three small sachets of suspected shabu, a caliber .38 pistol and a .357 pistol from the suspects. /cbb
