2 killed, 1 hurt in Quezon road mishaps
LUCENA CITY, Philippines—Two persons were killed and one seriously injured in two separate road accidents in Quezon province, police said Tuesday.
In Sariaya town shortly after midnight Monday, Melvin Bonete and wife Vicky, were traveling along the Maharlika Highway in the village of Sampaloc 2 aboard a tricycle being driven by Melvin when they were bumped by a Bicol-bound Philtranco passenger bus coming from the opposite direction.
Police Officer 2 Alnor Tagara, Sariaya police investigator, quoting Vicky who was seriously injured in the accident, said the bus suddenly swerved and collided with the tricycle.
Melvin’s father, Benedicto, who was also driving another tricycle behind his son, rushed the couple to Greg Hospital in Sariaya town.
Melvin died while being treated, police said.
The bus driver, Darryl Dyben Pilarca, who was identified through his company ID card, escaped after the accident, police said.
