Pasay City crash kills motorcyclist

MANILA, Philippines — A motorcycle rider was killed following a crash with a commuter van in Pasay City on Thursday evening.

An initial report from the South Police District (SPD) identified the victim as Aldie Paglangan, 37. The van driver meanwhile was identified as Efren Añonuevo, 32.

According to the SPD,  said the crash happened along Sunrise Drive corner Edsa Extension in the SM Mall of Asia Complex at about 11:15 p.m.

Police said the Toyota Hi-Ace commuter van (AS-1461) was cruising along Sunrise Drive when it crashed into the Honda motorcycle (4772-AS) driven by Paglangan.

Paglangan sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Pasay City General Hospital for immediate medical treatment. He was declared dead on arrival at 11:50 p.m.

Añonuevo meanwhile was arrested and is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. /muf
