Revilla says he got used to cockroaches, rats in Camp Crame

MANILA, Philippines — Former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla couldn’t help but feel different as he got used to cockroaches and rats in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

During the flag-raising ceremony at Bacoor City Hall, Cavite on Monday, Revilla expressed how strange it feels like now that he left Camp Crame.

“Alam niyo, nakakapanibago talaga. Nasanay ako sa Camp Crame na kasama ko yung mga ipis, mga daga, na halos kasing laki ng pusa,” the former senator said.

(You know, this feels so new. I was so used to being around cockroaches and rats that were as big as cats in Camp Crame.)

Revilla also expressed excitement in facing his countrymen once again: “Ngayon ko lang ulit nakaharap ang aking mga kababayang Bacooreño, Caviteño.”

(This is the first time for me to face again my fellow Bacooreño, Caviteño.)

Revilla was detained at the Custodial Center of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame, Quezon City since 2014.

Last Friday, he was released from the Camp Crame detention after Sandiganbayan First Division acquitted him of plunder in relation to the “pork barrel scam.” /je
