3 killed in buy-bust of firearms in Baseco compound

MANILA, Philippines — Three suspects were killed in an encounter with the police shortly after a buy-bust operation in Manila early Monday morning.

A report from the Manila Police District said the police launched a buy-bust operation against the suspects, who allegedly opened fire upon sensing that they were dealing with police officers.

Police said a chase happened along Block 1, Gasangan, Baseco Compound, Port Area, where the suspects were finally cornered.

A firefight ensued between the suspects and the lawmen, which led to the death of the suspects on the spot, police said.

Initial evidences recovered from the crime scene were a motorcycle without plate number, a caliber .45 pistol, a 9mm pistol, a caliber .22 revolver, a caliber .38 revolver, a hand grenade, unidentified number of sachets of suspected “shabu,” and several live and empty shells. /cbb
