Dec. 9 to 30: Pasko sa Sugbo

Monthlong Christmas celebration of the city of Cebu in Cebu province.

The festivities opened with the lighting of the giant Christmas tree at Fuente Osmeña Circle on Dec. 1.

Activities and performances by different sectors of the community are held at Fuente Osmeña Circle every night until 12 midnight.

Dec. 13 to 16: Puto Festival

The famous product of the town of Calasiao in Pangasinan province takes center stage in a three-day festival in a bid to promote and boost sales of puto (rice cake).

A parade and street dancing event will open the festivities.

Other activities include a gay beauty pageant, volleyball tournament and a cooking competition featuring unique delicacies with puto as the main ingredient.

Dec. 10 to 23: Inugyunay Festival

Christmas party at Tacurong City Hall grounds in Sultan Kudarat province.

The festival’s name came from the word “inugyun,” which means to unite.

Nightly festivities are held including the light-a-tree contest, movie night and parol-making contest.

The annual fireworks display, however, is canceled on Dec. 23 due to security reasons.
