MANILA, Philippines—Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said he has no plans of following the footsteos of his predecessor, retired PNP chief Ronald dela Rosa, in running for the Senate.

“No, I don’t have any plans,” Albayalde said during his interview with ABS-CBN News Channel on Thursday when asked if a senatorial bid is a possibility for him in the future.

Albayalde’s predecessor, dela Rosa, is seeking a Senate seat in the upcoming May 2019 elections.

“Probably after my retirement, I’ll go home to my family,” Albayalde added.

Albayalde became PNP chief in April 2018 after Dela Rosa retired and was appointed to head the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
