Laguna drug group member slain in shootout
SAN PEDRO CITY — A suspected member of a drug group was killed in a buy-bust operation in Lumban town in Laguna province early Thursday.
Ched Cesaldo, of Barangay (village) Maytalang, was allegedly a member of the Manambit Drug Group that operated in that part of the province, Laguna police director Sr. Supt. Eleazar Matta, in a text message, said.
Matta said members of the police intelligence unit conducted the operation in Barangay Concepcion at about 1:30 a.m. and tried to arrest Cesaldo.
Cesaldo allegedly drew and fired a .38-caliber revolver which prompted the law enforcers to shoot back in defense.
The suspect was instantly killed. /cbb
