Woman arrested for posing as ex-NCRPO chief

MANILA, Philippines — A woman was arrested in Parañaque City on Wednesday for allegedly posing as a former director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to extort money.

Police identified the suspect as Dianne May Navarez who allegedly posed as Police Director Camilo Cascolan, former director of the NCRPO.

According to an initial police report, the suspect introduced herself as “General Cascolan” and promised a certain Emmanuel Bugayon Carlos that she could help him be reinstated in the Philippine National Police if he would pay P10,000.

Police said Cascolan, who now heads the PNP Civil Security Group, will also file a criminal complaint against the suspect for using his identity.
