Man shot dead in Davao del Sur

MAGSAYSAY, Davao del Sur — A man was shot dead by an unidentified suspect at Purok 15, Barangay Poblacion around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.

The victim was identified as Ronie Balandag, a resident of Purok 18 at the said place.

SPO1 Ian Ildefonso, investigator of the homicide section, on Monday said that the victim was walking on his way home, but upon reaching the place, he was shot by the suspect, which resulted to his death.

Police took from the crime scene several pieces of empty shells and live ammunition of a caliber .45 pistol.

Ildefonso could not yet disclose the motive behind the incident but a police source who requested anonymity said that the victim was a member of the New People’s Army (NPA). /je
