PNP files kidnapping, human trafficking raps vs Satur Ocampo, et al.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has formally filed kidnapping and human trafficking charges against former Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo, ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro, and 16 others for allegedly holding 14 minors in Davao del Norte.
Satur and his companions were on board five vans when intercepted Wednesday night in Davao del Norte. The PNP accused them of taking into custody the minors who are students of a learning school in Sitio Dulyan, Palma Gil in Talaingod town.
The police also released on Friday photos of Ocampo and Castro’s mugshots taken before their cases were filed at the prosecutor’s office.
The PNP earlier said the school is allegedly being used by Ocampo’s camp to instill into the young minds of the students several rebellious ideas against the government.
Aside from Ocampo and Castro, the police have also filed charges against 11 teachers, four pastors, and an administrator of the learning center.
A bail bond of P80,000 is allowed for each suspect, police said.
Meanwhile, Ocampo and Castro asked the prosecutor that they be allowed to answer the allegations of the police through a preliminary investigation before the case can be filed in the court.
They made the request after the police filed the complaints before the prosecutor’s office. /jpv
