The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) is eyeing to conduct random checks of all the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogo) in its effort to intercept illegal workers.
Pagcor Chairman Andrea Domingo’s statement came amid issues surrounding the influx of illegal Chinese laborers in the country, most of which are working in offshore gaming operations.
“We are looking into having random checks among all of the Pogos,” Domingo said Wednesday during a press briefing.
She noted that if Pogos are caught harboring illegal workers, Pagcor will impose a large amount fine and if caught twice, Pagcor will revoke the Pogo’s license to operate.
“Basta irarandom check namin, pag may nahuli kami dun na illegal worker, malaki ang fine at pag-na-occur ng twice pwede na naming i-revoke ang license,” she said.
Earlier, the Senate labor committee has bern conducting an investigation into the influx of illegal Chinese workers in the country. /jpv
