‘Tomas’ to weaken into LPA before leaving PH – Pagasa

Tropical cyclone “Tomas” (international name: Man-Yi) would likely weaken into a low pressure area (LPA) before it exits the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday, the state weather bureau said.

Tomas scaled down into a tropical storm on Monday afternoon and is too far to affect the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Monday.

By Tuesday, it would further weaken into a tropical depression, it added.

The storm, spotted 1,090 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, packed maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 90 kph. It was moving at 15 kph northwest. /kga
