Magnitude 4.5 quake hits Ilocos Norte

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake hit the province of Ilocos Norte on Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The report said the tremor struck at 5:21 p.m. and traced its epicenter at 22 kilometers east of Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte.

Phivolcs said that the tremor was felt at Intensity III  in Laoag City and Intensity II quake in Vigan City, both in Ilocos Norte.

The agency noted that there was no damage to properties and no aftershocks could be expected.

The tremor of tectonic origin had a depth of focus of 8 kilometers. /ee
