A 50-year-old tractor driver was arrested on Friday evening for being involved in vehicular collision that killed a 15-year-old boy and injuring two other people.
Police identified the suspect as Iracleo Romero, a driver of a tractor with a trailer.
According to police, Romero was maneuvering his tractor backwards at the corner 2nd Street and Bonifacio Drive at the Port Area in Manila when he bumped the front of a tricycle being driven by Salvador Egana, 37.
The tricycle had two passengers — Patricio Magno, 15, and a 17-year-old female.
The impact of the collision caused injuries to the victims.
Magno was first taken to Gat Andres Hospital by a concerned citizen, while the two other victims were transferred at Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital.
On Saturday, at about 3:30 a.m. of Saturday, Magno was declared dead by attending physician Patrick Galang.
Romero and the vehicles were then turned over to the Manila Police District.
Romero will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and physical injuries.
His case will be referred to the City Prosecutor Office of Manila for further investigation and completion of necessary documents. /atm
