The termination of Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) Secretary-General Falconi Millar will not hamper the ongoing rehabilitation of war-torn Marawi City, Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) said.

In a statement released Thursday night, the group said they regret the termination of Millar, who  also headed the secretariat of the inter-agency task force which is in charge of overseeing the rehabilitation the Islamic city.

“However, we will not let this issue distract our continuing efforts to rehabilitate the city of Marawi,” TFBM said.

President Rodrigo Duterte sacked Millar on Thursday due to corruption allegations, Malacañang announced.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said the President’s  order to terminate the services of Millar “takes effect immediately.” He, however, did not specify the corruption allegations against Millar.

Meanwhile TFBM enumerated the work conducted in Marawi City in the past months, including debris management that started in October with the developer, FINMAT International Resources, Inc.

“We are also preparing for the fourth Kawiyagan set for Nov. 29– the livelihood convergence initiative of TFBM member agencies,” the group said.

The task force further assured that the “unwavering commitment of member agencies and stakeholders in this work continues to be the nucleus of government effort in bringing affected families and communities back on its feet and the battered city to normalcy.”

“We are one with the President in saying that the Marawi rehabilitation will not be affected and we give our full assurance to the public and the people of Marawi that services will not falter towards total recovery,” the group added.  /muf
