Pro-Brexit politician Michael Gove, who is secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs, recently drew ire on social media after he was found using Twitter and taking an online “Game of Thrones” quiz during work hours.

Gove, before becoming environment secretary, was one of those who played a prominent role in the successful campaign to leave the European Union, having been co-convenor of the Vote Leave campaign committee.

Gove took to his Twitter to share a “Game of Thrones” quiz he answered via Magiquiz.com at 11 a.m. (7 p.m. in the Philippines), Wednesday, Nov. 21. The quiz was called “Who’s your Game of Thrones soulmate?”

The Conservative politician’s tweet was not warmly received by the netizens who came upon it, with many calling him out over what seems to be his ample time for shenanigans on a work day.

Olaf Stando, who works in digital media for the Scottish National Party, shared Gove’s tweet on the same day and chided him.

“#Brexit deal almost dead in the water. UN give a damning verdict on the effects of austerity. The Tories are divided and in disarray. Leadership challenge hanging over PM,” Stando said. “But all’s good, because at least now we know Michael Gove’s Game of Thrones soulmate.”

Emily Bagnall, a history student and campaigns officer of Christ Church Students’ Union, also chided the politician in a sarcastic manner.

“Great to see the cabinet are using their office hours wisely during this difficult, turbulent time…”

A certain Daniel Howell had a more upfront question for Gove when he replied to his tweet: “Aren’t you supposed to be running a government department?!”

Netizen Dan Carpenter (@Carpenterdf), echoed similar sentiments, as he wrote, “Ladies and Gentleman. Our Government…”

Meanwhile, one Stephen Hodgkiss did not mince words when he asked Gove if he had found his principles yet.

“Have you found your principles yet and resigned. Or are you ‘too busy’???”

Thus far, Gove has not issued a comment regarding his tweeting during office hours. The tweet also remains on his Twitter account despite the criticism he has received. JB
