Student arrested for allegedly raping child-cousin 8 times

A 22-year old student was arrested in Pasig City on Monday for allegedly raping his young cousin eight times.

The 13-year-old victim was only 12 when she was repeatedly raped by her kin in 2017, said PO1 Joel Curiba, who was one of the officers who served the warrant on the suspect.

According to Curiba, the victim’s mother discovered the sexual assault last August when the child had a miscarriage after six months of pregnancy.

The mother reported the incident to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which then sought the help of the police.

According to Curiba, the suspect denied the rape claiming that he and his cousin had a romantic relationship.

The victim is now under the custody of the DSWD, while the suspect is detained at the Pasig City Police Headquarters facing eight counts of rape. /cbb
