FOR the second time, a 21-year-old woman was rescued after she climbed a tree in barangay Canduman, Mandaue City, last Saturday night.
The woman was the same person who climbed a coconut tree last month.
At 11:45 a.m. last Saturday, the woman climbed a Gmelina tree. The woman’s father tried to convince her to go down but she refused.
Police and members of the Mandaue Fire Department were called to help in the negotiation. The woman perched on the tree branch which was about 30-feet high. After several hours of negotiation, firefighters decided to rescue the woman using an aerial ladder.
The father said her daughter has been maintaining medicine after she suffered a nervous breakdown but could not take her medicine regularly due to financial problems. The woman was brought to a hospital for a check-up./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
